Priya Sethi reviews progress of model schools in Jammu


 

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 01 - Minister of State for Education, Culture and Tourism, Priya Sethi convened a meeting to review the progress of model schools in Jammu.

She took a detailed review of the infrastructural and allied facilities being upgraded in these model schools for providing better education to the students.

The Minister exhorted upon the need to involve students in extracurricular activities so as to nurture their talent for their overall development. She said that sports and studies should be given equal opportunities to flourish to the optimum and the students should be facilitated with every support to enable them shine in the field of their choice.

Priya asked the school authorities to organize frequent parent teacher meets so that parents can be given proper feedback about their child's performance. This will also enable the schools seek suggestions of the parents to further streamline functioning of these centres of learning. She stressed on inviting guest faculty having expertise in particular fields for the super 50 and remedial classes so that students can be provided maximum benefits from these classes.

Emphasizing the need to involve various stakeholders in the efforts towards improving facilities in schools, the Minister asked for developing infrastructure and other allied facilities under the Corporate Social Responsibility.

 Minister also exhorted upon the school authorities to highlight their day to day activities through social media and hold constructive deliberations towards improving the education system.

She also asked for organizing vocational training programmes for the students with an aim to enhance their employability through skill development.

Reiterating commitment of the government towards improving the overall education scenario, the minister said that the emphasis is being laid on making schooling a pleasant experience for the students to make them catalyst of growth and development.

She urged upon the teachers to work with dedication and devotion as they are entrusted with an important duty of shaping the future of children thus the nation.           

Among other, Director School Education Jammu Babila Rakwal, Joint Director (SSA), Joint Director (EE), Chief Account Officer Dheeraj Jandial, Chief Education Officer Jammu besides principals of various schools and senior officers were present in the meeting.
