JAMMU OCT 24 - Intensifying checking to protect interests of consumers during the festive season a joint team of offices of Legal Metrology comprising of Assistant Controller Kewal Krishan, Inspector Pooja and Inspector Rohit conducted intensive checking of products being sold at Best Price Jammu.
The team found number of packages of gift items which were packed in big packages to mislead the consumers regarding the actual quantity.

According to Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Enforcement, a large number of complaints were received telephonically or through social media that national level companies have flooded the market with gift packs to fleece the consumers by way of decorative deceptive packs which are marked with excessive MRP as compared to net contents. The packing date of the package was also different than the packing date of the individual packs contain inside the gift packs.

All such deceptive packages of brand Bikano, Bonn, Creamica , Mc Vities ,Bectora food festive, Rassa food, Delmontic, L'Oréal, and other brand were seized by Inspector Pooja and seizure memo was issued to the management of the companies to show cause the discrepancies found in such packages .The team also booked other companies for violation of different provisions including M/s Kitty industries for less weighment of packages and short weighment packages were seized.
