DC Rajouri takes review of Jal Shakti/PDD/I&FC

RAJOURI, JUNE, 10: The District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today reviewed the progress of developmental works being executed by the PWD, Jal Shakti, I&FC and PDD in the district here in a meeting of the concerned officers held in his office chamber.

Among the others, CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Jal Shakti, JP Singh; SE PWD, Javed Maqbool; ACR, Tahir Mustafa Malik; ExEn PWD Rajouri, Maqbool Hussain; ExEn Jal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed; ExEn PDD Rajouri, Narotam Kumar; ExEn Project Wing, Maqbool Hussain; ExEn I&FC Rajouri, Sageer Malik besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the DDC took a detailed review of the physical and financial progress of the projects being executed by the PWD, PDD, I&FC and Jal Shakti Department under different schemes in the district.

The DDC informed that as many as 600 new handpumps are to be installed in the district during the current financial year.

He asked the concerned officers to put in place added efforts to ensure that the work on the installation of these hand pumps is completed within the shortest possible time that the sufferings of the public can be mitigated. Concerning the repairing of the old defunct handpumps, the meeting was apprised that as many as 268 defunct handpumps are to be repaired in the district this year out of which 50 have been repaired to date.

The DDC asked the concerned officer to ensure that all the remaining handpumps are repaired as early as possible.

Regarding providing drinking water facilities in all the schools of the district, the concerned officer from the Jal Shakti Department informed that about 95 per cent of schools have been provided with the functional drinking water facility and the left out schools would be covered soon.

While reviewing the progress of JPDCL under PMDP and DDUY, the concerned officer apprised the meeting that 03 works under DDUY and 10 works under PMDP would be completed by 31 ist July this year.

While taking stock of the progress of work on GMC, the DDC asked the concerned officer from the PWD to ensure that the work on the Administrative and Academic block is completed in all respects by 25th June this year.

The DDC also asked the concerned officer from the PWD to ensure the proper maintenance of their roads and fill the potholes on the roads to avoid road accidents besides they were also asked to identify the black spots on the roads and take corrective measures in accidental prone areas by fixing signboards and necessary concretizations at these sites as precautionary measures.

The DDC asked the concerned officers to speed up the work on the projects being executed in the district so that necessary benefits are provided to the common masses with the completion of work on these projects.

The DDC also asked the concerned officers from the PWD to prepare a list of the contractors whose work progress is sluggish so that they can be blacklisted and their contracts cancelled.

The DDC said that several complaints of irregular water supply and low voltage/unscheduled power cuts are being received from the general public daily and asked them to ensure the time-bound redressal of the genuine concerns of the public.
