Bali emphasizes Yoga for a healthy, prosperous life

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 28-Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today said Yoga is the most effective way of connecting our soul to God besides helping humans lead a healthy and peaceful life.

“The significance of Yoga gains added relevance in present day when the man is lurching in chaos and confusion of worldly pleasures”, the Minister maintained.

The Minister was addressing the concluding ceremony of International Yoga Festival-cum-Yoga Sports Championship-2016 (26th to 28th September-2016) organized by Yoga Society of Kashmir under International Yoga Foundation and Indian Yoga Society at Sher-I-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST) in Chatha, Jammu.

Nearly, 5000 people from 18 states of the country and abroad participated in this mega event including Japan, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Hongkong, Vietnam and Australia etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Bali said Yoga has originated in ancient India and now is being practiced by the people of almost all the nations. Yoga means-a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which includes breath control, simple meditation and adoption of specific bodily postures, he added saying that it releases us from the daily stresses of our routine life enabling us to lead a more comfortable and prosperous life. He said regular practice of yoga helps us undertake daily struggles in a healthy manner.         

Bali also shared his experience of yoga during his student life saying that it is the best way to commence your day with. This enhances the concentration level of students making them more focused and able. He stressed on the need of a yoga session in every school which would besides improving the learning and concentration level of students also help in preserving the precious souvenir given to us by our ancestors.

On the occasion, the Minister distributed awards, trophies among the participants and also presented gold, silver and bronze medals to the competitors of different age groups.
