Peerzada Mansoor calls on Chairman KVIC; Seeks assistance for promotion of Khadi industries in JK


NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 10:  Vice-Chairman, J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), Peerzada Mansoor Hussain called on Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Mr V K Saxena here today.

Peerzada Mansoor discussed various issues relating to development of Khadi and village industries and problems being confronted in the promotion of rural entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir.

The issues raised by Peerzada Mansoor with KVIC Chairman include organizing exhibition at Leh by the end of this month, organizing workshop-cum awareness programmes  in each district to sensitize people about the entrepreneur schemes available in Khadi and Village Industries sector, extension of Backward-Forward Linkage in Khadi industries, construction of  two Khadi Plazas, on each at Srinagar and Jammu, for which land is available and Khadi Cluster Development units in each district of J&K. He sought financial and technical assistance from KVIC for the purpose.

Responding to the demands, the Chairman KVIC assured the Vice-Chairman that every possible help would be extended to fulfill the demands made in the meeting. He assured release of Rs 10 lakh for organizing exhibition at Leh and Rs 1 lakh each for conducting workshop-cum-awareness programmes in each district of J&K. He assured that the Commission would release Rs 5 crore for strengthening the Backward-Forward Linkage in rural entrepreneurship.  He also asked to submit proposal for construction of Khadi Plazas at Srinagar and Jammu so that funds can be arranged for the purpose.

Referring to meeting with Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the Vice-Chairman said that he has given assurance for extending financial and technical support for promotion of khadi industries in J&K State and release of funds for the cases would be forwarded under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) Scheme.
