JAMMU, Sep 5 - Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today suspended a storekeeper for dereliction of duty here today.
The Minister during a whirlwind tour conducted surprise inspection of food grain stores of the department at Pargwal, Jourian and Khour, forward areas of Akhnoor Tehsil.
During the inspection, the Minister reviewed the stock available in the stores and also checked the quality of food grains.
Director, FCS&CA G S Chib, Joint Controller LMD, V S Sambyal, Deputy Controller LMD, Manoj Prabhakar and Sub Divisional Magistrate Khour accompanied the Minister.
At Jourian and Khour, the Minister seized all the record and ordered for the physical verification of both the stores and submission of report to his officer in two days. The Minister also suspended the storekeeper of Jourian store for dereliction of duty with immediate effect as he was found absent from duty.
He also asked the Director, FCS&CA to initiate renovation work of the food grain stores so to prevent damage to the ration during rainy season.
Interacting with the people of the area, Minister enquired about the ration distribution process and the quality of food grains being provided to them. The people expressed their satisfaction and appreciated the efforts of the Food Supplies department making the whole process transparent and accountable.
The Minister also visited a government sale depot at Pallanwala and interacted with the people present there to buy the ration. He directed the officials of the depot to distribute the ration in a time bound manner and remain at the disposal of consumers.
Zulfkar directed the Assistant Director FCS&CA to organize a camp on September 30 to distribute ration cards to the consumers of the area.
During the visit, local dealers submitted a memorandum to the Minister raising various issues including clearance of carriage charges, payment as per the new increased rate of commission and others. The Minister assured the dealers that their genuine demands will be redressed. He asked the dealers to distribute ration to the people as per the scale and warned them against any complaint in this regard.
Zulfkar asked the SDM Khour to personally monitor the distribution process and take appropriate action if any complaint is received against the staff of the department and dealers.
The Minister exhorted upon the officers/officials of the department to work with efficiency and transparency. He also asked them to keep close check on the quantity and quality of food grains being distributed to the people.
Earlier the Minister also conducted surprise inspection at Shiv Om Filling Station in Mishriwala. The Minister inspected the quality and quantity of fuel and asked the staff to put in place proper measures to ensure unadulterated fuel to the customers.
Among others, Director, FCS&CA G S Chib, Joint Controller LMD, V S Sambyal, Deputy Controller LMD, Manoj Prabhakar, Sub Divisional Magistrate Khour, concerned officers of FCS&CA, LMD and local people were present on the occasion.
