1st Gamma Camera in the State to become functional soon

JAMMU, Sep 01:  The 27th Governing Body meeting of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal was held here and reviewed the functioning of the Hospital besides taking several important decisions for providing best possible treatment to the patients.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body.

The meeting was informed that the Hospital has incurred around Rs. 48 lakh on providing 50% concession on the high value first 100 surgeries performed by the Hospital. It is pertinent to recall that this concession was announced during inaugural functional of the Hospital on 19th April 2016. Besides, the free OPD and 10% discount on all treatment is also available at the Hospital till 8th October 2016. The Hospital has borne an expenditure of Rs. 97 lakh on both these concessions till date. Thus the total expenditure borne by the Hospital on the first 100 high value surgeries, free OPD and 10% concession provided on all treatments till date is Rs. 145 lakh.                  

The meeting was further informed that the most advanced Gamma Camera will become operational at the Superspeciality Hospitality, Kakryal by 15th September 2016 to further upgrade and strengthen the diagnostic facilities for various ailments, including scanning of brain, thyroid, lungs, liver, gallbladder, kidneys and skelton. This facility, first of its kind, is not available in any of the hospitals in the State.

The meeting decided that the facility of online appointments of patients with consultants will be made available at the Superspeciality Hospital shortly so that the patients do not have to wait for their turn for seeking consultation.

In order to make available services of superspecialists to the people nearer to their homes, the Hospital will soon organise OPD services on Sundays at Jammu and Udhampur, to begin with. Later, this facility may be extended to other districts of the State.

Dr. A. Raghuvanshi of NH informed the Governing Body that a number of reputed consultants of other NH Hospitals are scheduled to visit in the coming days to provide their specialist services to the Superspeciality Hospital at Kakryal. He further informed that 3 renowned consultants in the fields of Surgical Oncology, Paediatric Cardiology and Hemato Oncology shall be visiting the Hospital in next 20 days.

In order to have a better interface with the patients as well as their attendants, Floor Coordinators and Medico-Social Workers are also being appointed for various floors and critical care areas of the Hospital.   

Referring to the crucial need for putting in place a most effective Disaster Management Plan for the Hospital, Dr. Bloeria asked for preparing a comprehensive SOP in this regard and organising mock drills on regular basis so that everything is kept in the state of readiness to deal with any emergencies like earthquakes, fire incidents or any other disaster situations in a most befitting manner.

The Governing Body took a detailed review of the to-date status of the OPD and IPD patients treated, major surgeries performed and number of diagnostic tests conducted at this Hospital so far. The meeting was informed that since the commencement of services on 8th April 2016, the Hospital has treated 29425 OPD and 1319 indoor patients as well as performed 1102 surgeries, many of which were extremely critical.

Those who participated in the deliberations included Mr. B. B. Vyas, Financial Commissioner; and Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; both members of the Governing Body; Dr. (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SMVDNSH; and other concerned officers from the Shrine Board side. Those who took part in the Governing Body meeting on behalf of NVDSHPL/NH included Dr. A. Raghuvanshi, Vice Chairman, MD and Group CEO; and Dr. S. P. Singh, CEO, NVDSHPL, Members of the Governing Body, besides Mr. V. Kesavan, Group CFO, Mr. A. Nagarajan, Sr. Vice President, Finance, NH and Dr. Anesh Shetty, Executive Assistant to Group CEO.

In his comprehensive presentation, Dr. Harjai gave details regarding organising of medical camps by the Hospital in various rural areas of the State and stated that 7926 patients suffering from different ailments were examined at 40 camps organised so far and they were advised suitably.
