Failure of State Govt to restore peace in Kashmir: Congress

JAMMU, August 27:- A meeting of PCC executive of Jammu province was held here today at party Head quarters Shaheedi Chowk Jammu under the chairman ship of JKPCC President Mr. G.A.Mir.

The meeting was attended by Senior functionaries of PCC, District Presidents, Heads of Frontal Organizations and PCC Cells. The meeting held detailed deliberations over the overall situation in the State in the wake of current unrest in the Kashmir Valley.

The meeting expressed grave concern over the grim situation  in the valley, which is under curfew for the last 50days with unrest and incidents of violence continuing unabated where more than 70precious lives have been lost besides serious injuries to lot number of peoples, which are very unfortunate.

The meeting complimented the people of Jammu region for rejecting all sorts of provocations and maintained peace and religious harmony during this crucial period  and appealed to the people to remain vigilant and do not allow the communal and divisive and anti-national forces to take advantage of the current situation.

Expressing deep concern over the prolonged spell of the current unrest and failure of the state and centre Govt. to restore peace and normalcy even after 50days, the meeting viewed that the current situation was the result of initial mishandling by the Govt. The State and centre Govt. lack any clear policy and road-map to effectively address the prevailing situation and restore lasting peace and normalcy.

The meeting viewed that Congress as a responsible political force, played an effective role both at the central level and in the state to strengthen the mainstream space, in the state and it would continue to play a constructive role of the unifying force in order to support any right move to find lasting peace and solution to the problem through dialogue with all stake holders of three regions in the State.

The meeting also strongly condemned the Pakistan for fomenting trouble taking advantage of the situation and demanded immediate effective measures to end the current unrest in order to defeat the designs of inimical forces.

The meeting appealed to the people and normalcy in order to create conducive atmosphere for the political initiatives.
