DDC Anantnag reviews winter preparedness arrangements


ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 29: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, K.K.Sidha today convened a meeting of officers and engineers to review winter preparedness in the district.

He directed the Executive Engineer Mechanical Engineering Department, Anantnag to submit a detailed action plan with regard to total road length to be cleared from Jawahar Tunnel to Puji Teng and other major roads.

The Executive Engineer Mechanical Engineering Department Anantnag informed the meeting that 1303 Km road length will be cleared by the said division during the ensuing winter. The SDM Dooru was directed to ensure functioning of Disaster Management Centres at Gulab bagh, Walnut Factory Qazigund and R&B building Qazigund, to dump the required material for the stranded passengers during emergencies, and to turn these centres as transit camps for the stranded passengers.

The Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti Department Qazigund and Bijbehara were asked to submit the detail of requirement of DG Sets, Fuel and other equipments to ensure regular drinking water supply, while KPDCL was asked to submit action plan of transformers needed under buffer stock, conductor, LT/HT Polls besides also submit certificate of pruning of branches of trees falling on LT/HT network to ensure fault free power supply.

The DDC directed CMO Anantnag to ensure the availability of medicines, heating arrangements in the hospitals and required healthcare facilities besides no health centre remains without manpower during the winter. The CMO was also directed to ensure availability of medicines at Disaster Management Centre, Gulab Bagh in view of COVID-19.

The EOs of MCs were asked to submit an action plan for water logging and road clearance in urban areas besides keeping men and machinery ready to meet any eventuality. The Superintending Engineers of R&B and KPDCL and Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Qazigund were directed to submit detailed action plan for transformers in buffer, poles, transformer oil and Water Supply pipes and R&B requirements for the winter and education department to ensure the heating arrangements in schools during examination days.

The AD, FCS&CA was directed to stock 21000 qtls. of rice in 60 centres in far-flung and remote areas of the district by November, 7th 2020 and also ensure stocking of K. Oil, Petrol, Diesel and LPG for 3 months. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Addl SP Anantnag, Engineers of Jal Shakti, PMGSY, KPDCL, M&ED, EOs of MCs and other officers.
