Reasi admin to felicitate 6 ODF Panchayats on I-Day   


 

      

REASI, AUGUST 13 – The District Administration Reasi has decided to felicitate six Panchayats on the Independence Day for achieving Open Defecation Free status following launch of massive rural sanitation campaign in the district under Swachh Bharat Mission. 

In this regard, District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Ravinder Kumar, inspected a number of households in Panchayats Mari-A and B for declaring these as ODF-Free areas.

Pertinently, Six Panchyats in the district have achieved Open Defecation Free status with construction of Individual household latrines under rural sanitation campaign launched in the district at a large scale.             

The DDC also chaired an awareness camp at Panchayat Mari-A which was attended by District Panchayat Officer Rajiv Khajuria, Block Development Officer, Akshi Gupta, former Sarpanchs and Panchs as well as local citizens. During the camp the team of officers  discussed the achievements of panchayats declared ODF and strategy for further coverage of panchayats for making Reasi an ODF District.         

Earlier, the DDC inspected the Individual Household Latrines and complimented the Rural Sanitation department for quality construction and completion of units well within stipulated target. He said the district administration will facilitate the ODF panchayats and prominent stakeholders on Independence Day to reward them for their outstanding performance and to encourage other Panchayats to achieve this feat.          

DPO Rajiv Khajuria briefed the gathering about various incentives under SBM and  sought active involvement of schools and Angnawari centers in promoting sanitation for achieving ODF status         

District Administration, Reasi, has set a target of achieving ODF status for more than 60 panchayats this year and record results have been achieved in a very short time with active public participation.
