Govt approves construction of International Trade Centre at Pampore

SRINAGAR, JULY 28: In its endeavor to rejuvenate and boost the Handicraft & Horticulture sector in the State, the Government has approved construction of International Trade Centre (ITC) at Sempora Pampore at an estimated cost of Rs 47.92 crore. This prestigious project shall come up on an area of 371 kanals of land which will have all the latest facilities under one roof.

The idea of establishing ITC is to expose the local traders and trades like handicraft items, agriculture and horticulture products to international markets which could promise bigger income to the entrepreneurs, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce, Shailendra Kumar said while chairing a meeting of officers here today.

Elaborating on the project, he said ITC would provide facilities for organizing Trade Fairs, Conferences, Business Events,   and Economic Forums & Exhibitions.    It will be more than a marketing tool as the entire market place is at one’s fingertips, he said.

He said the Centre would also provide an excellent opportunity to assess opinions from clients and determine market potential, conduct research etc. The International Business Center would function as the main interface between the exporters of the state and overseas markets. It would promote export to Middle East, South East Asia.

The ITC also network with Indian export marts to attract buyers here to place orders with exporters.

The meeting was attended by Director, Handicrafts; Managing Director, SICOP, Jt. Director (PDM), I&C Department and other officers of Industries & Commerce Department besides President, FICK and President, KCCI.
