Excise Commissioner J&K concludes his extensive week long field Tour ; Canteen issue clarified


Jammu, July 06: Excise Commissioner J&K Rajesh Shavan (KAS) concluded week long field tour.

Shavan visited Basholi, Bani, Lawang in Kathua district.

During field visit the staff was sansitized about their role to stop illicit trade and distillation of liquor besides keeping check on narco business.

The officer also reviewed work in Chenab belt where lot of people from all walks of life met him.

Awareness camps were organised at higher altitude areas to have contact with nomads and migratory population.

The people were requested to stay away from the modules of charas and bhang smugglers and not fall prey to their nets.

Regarding inspections of unit canteens of Army particularly the 4- sector RR, the Commissioner has said that it was routine checking of stocks and verification of duties paid to government.

There was nothing sort of grave discrepancies found as reported earlier in social media group and  said that full cooperation and assistance was rendered by the concerned officer.

It has been further observed that the canteens have made proper records of stock and duties.

Pertinently, the Excise Commissioner conducted this long tour to get first hand information of the working of department during covid period when there has been drastic decline in the sale of canteens and stores in view of higher duty rates.
