It was 2014 May , BJP came in to power at Centre with record win. It is almost 1 year three months and suddenly BJP come under criticism for rising prices of necessity items. The foremost item on the list is “Onion” . Onion is being sold at almost Rs 80 per kg which is quite high in comparison to the normal pricing. Prices at which Onion are sold are very strategic to the livelihood of Poor people in India and for that matter lower middle and middle income groups also.
An ingredient of almost all food items in India, the price rise on Onions start giving beamers to maximum families in India. One lady told that the affect of price change of Onion is similar to price change of Petrol/Diesel as it can have huge impact on your monthly spending.
Another lady told that She is not bothered by Oil price increment as they do not have vehicles to run but she gets worried when the price of Onion increases as it is the main ingredient in all the food items she cook.
BJP government has made a statement that the price of onions will come down but one thing is sure BJP plans on keeping the price of Onions under control have somewhere gone wrong and the backup plans needs to be implemented at the earliest to save people from such high costs.This is not only the case with Onions , there are so many items which are now getting almost out of reach of common man of India.
