SRINAGAR, JUNE 13: The House today unanimously passed resolution for setting up of one IIT and one IIM in Kashmir, moved by Mr. Qaiser Jamsheed Lone.

The resolution was passed in the House by voting conducted by Chairman after Minister for Rural Development, Law and Justice Abdul Haq asked for its withdrawal.

Mr. Gulam Nabi Monga seconded the resolution and demanded equitable development of all the three regions of the state.

Mr. Yasir Reshi backing the resolution said that the creation of IIT would help in employment generation in the valley.

Mr. Saif-Ud-Din Bhat while speaking in favour of the resolution said that the Government should give focus to all the three regions of the State, so that no area or region of J&K feels neglected.

Mr. Surinder Choudhary opposed the resolution and said that instead of making the developmental projects city-centric, the Government should consider starting such projects in far flung areas of the State like Pir-Panjal.

Mr. Surinder Ambardar said that instead of taking up new projects the Government should focus on completing existing projects like AIIMS and Central University.

Mr. Naresh Kumar Gutpa said that instead of prioritizing urban areas, State Government should focus on the developmental work in rural areas.
