Sat Sharma starts works worth Rs 72.98 crores for laying new pipe lines for water supply in Jammu West

Jammu,Aug 24: In order to improve the system of water supply in Jammu West Constituency, State Vice President BJP and MLA  Sat Sharma (CA) started the works for Rehabilitation of water supply pipe network in identified areas within Zone 2, 3, 4 and 5 in Jammu City under ADB(Asian Development Bank) assisted JKUSDIP scheme. The areas covered under the scheme includes Talab Tillo, Bhagwati Nagar, Bakshi Nagar, Raj Pura, Shakti Nagar, Patoli, Toph Sherkhania, Sarwal, New Plot and adjoining areas.

The estimated total cost of the project is Rupees 72.98 crores and will be done under the supervision of ERA (Economic Reconstruction Agency). Besides, the officials of ERA and PHE, many social and political activists were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the media persons, Sat Sharma said that the target set for completion of work is set upto October,2016 and the total length of the pipe line which is to be placed for improvement of water supply is 180 kms and Jammu West is the only Constituency of Jammu and Kashmir where this project has been sanctioned till date.  

He said a total number of 7300 households will benefit under the scheme and in the coming times the water supply in the said areas will improve which will ultimately benefit the residents of Jammu West. He said the scope of works include Rehabilitation/replacement of worn out pipe lines, Upgradation of existing pipe dias, Laying of new pipe line in uncovered areas and installation of service line on two sides of the street for house connection.

Sharma stated that this summer season many areas suffered shortage of water supply but after implementation of this scheme and its completion, majority of the households will get adequate water supply in their areas and the system of water supply will improve in the Constituency so that the basic demands of the public could be met.

He also directed the officials that no compromise should be made on the quality of the works as it is public money and the public must get maximum benefit out of it.ERA officials including Project Manager Dr SK Chadda, Dy PM Munish Bhat, APM’s Rajesh Gandotra & Abhinandan Singh, AEE PHE Ashwani Khajuria, JE Avinash, BJP Leaders Parmod Kapahi, Ayodhya Gupta, Ashwani Kumar, Sanjay Sawhney, Karan Sat Sharma, Ashok Gupta, Ravi Kiran, Darshan Lal, Deepak Kumar, Deepak Agrawal, Ankush Sharma, Officials of PHE and ERA and many others were also present on the occasion.
