SRINAGAR, JUNE 08: Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD) Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today constituted zone-wise teams to check the prices and intensify market checking during the Holy month of Ramadhan.
The decision was taken during a review meeting to work out a mechanism to check price control in the Holy month of Ramadhan.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Bashir Ahmad Khan, Director CA&PD Mushtaq Ahmad Shah and other concerned officers.
The Minister directed constituting of five teams which would ensure daily monitoring and checking in five zones of district Srinagar-South, North, Eidgah, Chanapora, and Shalteng.
The teams would have Tehsildar, concerned Station Head Officers (SHO), Assistant Director CA&PD, Inspector Legal Metrology, Municipality Ward Officer, Food Safety Officer as its members.
The Minister assured that a permanent police team would be made available to accompany the monitoring squads.
The Minister directed Director CA&PD and DC Srinagar to accompany the monitoring teams once a week, besides the latter was also directed to review the progress of the teams twice a week. He also asked to establish control rooms at the offices of DC Srinagar and Directorate CA&PD.
The Minister further directed to ensure that Directorate of CA&PD would notify people about the prices of vegetables, and fruits rates daily through print and electronic media. He also asked for regulating the rates of loose dates available in market.
