LG Murmu for safety audit of all 20-year old bridges in J&K


Jammu, Nov 20: Lt. Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu directed for immediate safety audit and 100 percent checking of bridges constructed 20 years back and undertaking repairs wherever required.

Kewal Kumar Sharma, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Commissioner Secretary, Public Works(R&B) Department, Chief Engineers, PMGSY and other officers attended the meeting.

He called for preparing a maintenance policy of infrastructure being developed by Public Work Department and directed for appropriating specific maintenance budget for the assets already created.

He laid special emphasis on the use of hume pipes during the construction of hilly roads to maintain the natural flow of rain water and prevent any damages to the roads.
