
JAMMU, JUNE 05: "Organizing talent search programmes and coaching camps in rural areas should be given special focus to hone sports talent of youth".
This was stressed by the Minister of state in the Prime Minister's office Dr.Jitendra Singh, who also holds Independent charge of North East, Youth Services and sports, during a felicitation function organised by the J&K State sports Council at M.A stadium here today.
MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta, Joint Secretary Shiv Kumar Sharma , Siddarth Sharma, Ranjt Kalra , Rahil Gupta , Krupali Singh (members) of Sports Council and International Fencer Rashid Choudhary were present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion the Minister asked the council to come up with a list of sports persons of the state who can be a part of groups going outside the country for advanced training . He also asked the council to organize coaching cum talent search camps in rural and far flung areas regularly, adding that there is immense talent in rural youth which if provided proper platform can create wonders in the field of sports .
He further said that there is no dearth of sports talent in the state and need of the hour is to explore and nurture this talent with dedication so that budding talent of the state gets the opportunity to excel in the national and international sports arena.
Mr Singh said that the time has come when we need to step back and have faith in the capability and decision making capacity of the youth adding that sports is the best medium to foster leadership qualities and team spirit.
The Minister also assured that steps will be taken to fulfill the long pending demand of an all weather swimming pool and a cricket academy in Jammu.
