SRINAGAR, June 01:Minister of State for Agriculture, Mr. Sunil Kumar Sharma today informed the House that no demand for establishment of procurement centre at Sherpur village of Kathua district has been received till end of April 2016 from the farmers.
Replying to a question by Mr. Kuldeep Raj, the Minister said that local millers and traders of Kathau district are procuring grain from the field of farmers and providing more than minimum support price provided by the FCI. He said that therefore farmers are not turning up even to the already established centres at Nagri, Kathua and Sanji Mohr in Kutha district.
Responding to the supplementary question by Mr Sukhnandan Chowdhary, Minister for CA&PD, Mr. Zulfkar Ali while intervening said that food grain mandis would be established in those areas where adequate food grain are available. He said these mandis would be established by FCI and for the purpose requisite logistic support would be provided by Agriculture and CA&PD departments to the corporation.
