SRINAGAR, MAY 23: The Election Commission (EC) of India has issued notification for holding Bye Election to fill up the vacancy of Anantnag Assembly Constituency which fell vacant due to the passing away of former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
According to the notification, the date of issue of notification is May 25, 2016, last of filing of nomination papers June 01,2016, date of scrutiny of nomination papers June 02, 2016, last date of withdrawal of nomination papers June 04, 2016. Elections, if, necessary, would be held on June 19, 2016 and votes would be counted on June 22, 2016.
Accordingly, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force from 21st May, 2016 in Anantnag district.
