SMVD Shrine Board organizes Science Outreach Programme for children


 

       

KATRA, MAY 19 - Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, in collaboration with Institute of Nanoscience & Technology, Mohali, organized INST Outreach Programme at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra.        

The programme, the theme of which was “Imagine Life without Science”, was aimed to sensitise the students of the various schools in Katra and its surrounding areas, particularly the students of Middle School Sanjichhat and the wards of SMVDSB employees, regarding the importance of Nano Science and other emerging technologies.         

Prof. A. K. Ganguli, Director INST Mohali, and his team of scientists interacted with the students and motivated them to develop a genuine interest in the different areas of science.         

Dr. Piyush Singla, Additional CEO, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, apprised that a series of such programmes have been organised in developing the scientific temper among the students and exposing them to future careers in the varied fields of science. Students of this area were also sent to Children Science Congress held at Chandigarh earlier this year.

Prof. R. N. Gohil, Secretary NASI (local chapter) and Dr. Sunil Wanchoo from SMVDU were amongst the Motivational Speakers on the occasion.

More than 200 students from Katra and its surrounding areas along with their class teachers and the wards of SMVDSB employees participated in the programme.
