Better basic amenities to all Govt’s top priority: Ganga


SAMBA, MAY 14 – Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga today said that providing better basic amenities to people is the top priority of the government and it will leave no stone unturned to achieve this goal.

The Minister was interacting with the locals after launching the development works in Bari Brahmana area to be completed at an estimated amount of Rs 7 Lacs by Municipal Committee Bari Brahmana.

The locals of the area also sought augmentation of drinking water supply in the area. Responding to the demand, the Minister directed the PHE department to take steps to improve drinking water supply to the people.

Later the Minister inaugurated newly constructed woman sanitary complex and a lane at Kundanpur in Birpur area of Bari Brahmana. The Sanitary facility was constructed under ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ at an estimated cost of Rs 2 Lakh, while the lane and drain was constructed by Rural development Department at a cost of Rs 1.50 lakh.

The locals hailed the construction of sanitary complex, which they said was a long pending demand of the people of the area.

Raising other demands, the locals called for construction of an overhead water tank to overcome the shortage of drinking water in the area. The Minister directed the PHE authorities to provide additional supply through water tankers to the people of Kandi area. He also instructed them to formulate a comprehensive plan to augment the   drinking water facility in the area.

Reiterating the commitment of the government to uplift the life of rural masses, the Minister called upon the people to avail the benefits of    schemes being implemented by different departments.

“The new initiative of union government to provide free LPG gas to 5 crore woman members of BPL families will not only benefit the weaker section but also help in containing rising air pollution.

Highlighting the importance of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in ensuring adequate ration supply to all deserving people in the state, the Minister said this is a pro-people Act envisaging coverage of maximum  number of poor, marginalized and deprived sections of the society.

Among others, ACD Samba Tilak Raj Thapa, BDO Bari Brahmana Aijaz Qaiser, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bari Brahmana Shiv Dev Singh, officers of PHE department, other concerned officers, sarpanch, panches and people of the area were present on the occasion.
