Rajendra chairs officers meet, reviews professional policing,management


JAMMU, MAY 07: Stressing on better deliverance of public services at grass root level, the Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar has said that public  cooperation in all areas of policing is imperative to yield better results. He said that maintenance of law and order with human approach should be our priority to project JKP as a modern police force.

Mr. Rajendra was addressing police officers of Jammu district at a meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today, the meeting was convened to take stock of professional policing, crime investigation and traffic management in Jammu. The meeting was attended by senior police officers including Superintendents of police, SDPOs and SHOs.             

Elaborating various aspects of professional policing, Mr. Rajendra stressed that crime control is prime  responsibility of JKP and our focus should always be to bring the cases to logical end on merits.  He said that investigating officers should adopt latest scientific methods of  investigation to bring the culprits to justice. Crime against women and human rights violation need to be attended on priority.

Mr. Rajendra said that the people have high expectations with the JKP in the deliverance of justice and the force has great responsibility to address the grievances  of the masses. He said that modern policing require behavioural changes to make our efforts fruitful in day to day public service deliverance. People with their grievances approach police stations and other police offices with a  hope to get early justice and it is our prime duty to listen to their grievance patiently  and address them on priority. Quick response in FIRs and investigation on merits strengthens image of the force in the eyes of public, said Mr. Rajendra.

Reviewing the traffic management in Jammu City, national highway and other important routes, the DGP stressed upon the officers to put in place collective measures for the betterment of traffic system . He said that besides strengthening the manpower and infrastructure, effective mechanism needs to be adopted to streamline  traffic  more effective so that the people, particularly the students, tourists and pilgrims do not face inconvenience. Strict implementation of traffic rules is necessary to curb traffic violation which causes difficulties for the traffic cops to ensure better management.        

Among others, the meeting was attended by IGP Jammu (Zone Jammu), Danish Rana, Jammu, Sunil Gupta, SSP PCR Jammu, Ashok Sharma, Superintendents of Police, Romesh Chander Kotwal and Arun Gupta, all SDPOs and SHOs of  Jammu district.
