Zulfikar flags-off supplies to Ladakh; Expresses satisfaction over advance supplies to the region

SRINAGAR, MAY 07: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public District (CA&PD) Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali today flagged-off supplies to the Ladakh region for the year 2016-17 here at the department’s Directorate office.        

This year the supplies have been sent in advance by one month as the road to Ladakh was thrown open for public on April 30 this year.           

Director CA&PD Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Joint Director, Assistant Director Stores and other senior officials of the department were present during the flag-off ceremony.            

About 20 trucks carrying 1800 quintals of flour were dispatched to Ladakh’s Leh and Kargil districts today.            

The Director CA&PD briefed the Minister that for Leh district 68016 quintals of rice, 53742 quintal flour, 8853 quintal sugar and 2281032 litres of K-oil will be transferred in 13 months, while as for Kargil district 72085 quintals of rice, 54067 quintal flour, 9152 quintal sugar and 2102191 litres of K-oil will be transferred during the same period in about 852 trips.            

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that it is priority of the State Government to provide commodities like rice, wheat, K-oil and other essential commodities to consumers in every nook and corner of the State. He expressed satisfaction over advance supplies to the Ladakh region this year which earlier used to begin in the month of June every year.               

Earlier the Minister visited food stores at Harwan and Zerobridge Srinagar and took stock of the various commodities there.
