
Jammu, April 13: The High Court has modified its stay order giving a major relief to 477 Sub-Inspectors selected in Police Department and gave nod for their appointment with a rider that it shall be subject to the outcome of writ petition as earlier it had put on hold the selection process of about 477 posts of Sub Inspectors.
Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey said there shall be no impediment for the authorities to proceed ahead with the selection and appointments.
Meanwhile, with a view to clarify the position, the order dated 11th of January, 2019 passed by this court, is modified by providing that subject to objections from the other side and till the next date of hearing before the Bench, it is directed that the selection/ appointment in question shall remain subject to outcome of the writ petition.
It further added that however, in order to save the case of petitioners (non-selectees) while modifying its previous order, directed that equal number of posts shall be reserved for the petitioners in both the writ petitions. Various non-selected candidates approached the court by way of two writ petitions challenging the selection of 477 Sub Inspectors in Police Department submitting that the selection for the posts is full of discrepancies and irregularities.
