Congress to organize "Secretariat gherao" on May 9th in Srinagar


JAMMU, May 1:Congress today decided to organize a secretariat gherao on May 9th , on the opening day of civil sectt. in Srinagar.

This was decided in   a meeting of senior functionaries of JKPCC was held here today at Congress HQ under the chairmanship of President PCC Shri. G. A. Mir. The Meeting was attended by senior functionaries of PCC besides  some legislators to take stock of the overall situation in the State. The meeting deliberated upon the current issues and political scenario of the state.

The meeting also took  serious note of the decision of the PDP-BJP Govt. to discontinue the practice of summer sectt. in Jammu ,after the darbar move , for six months to the summer capital in Srinagar. Criticizing the decision of the Govt. to discontinue the past practice where by the summer and winter secretariats use to function when darbar moved to the other region as per darbar move practice and  this  was to the benefits of common people of respective regions to meet their urgent grievances  .Describing this decision  of  the PDP-BJP Govt. is anti people,the party has demanded setting up  summer sect. in Jammu immediately, as per past practice.

The meeting welcomed verdict of the State high court regarding holding the ULB elections in the State latest within the period of six months. The meeting hailed the decision of the court and regretted the failure of the State Govt. to carry forward the schedule of the election formulated by the Governor’s administration besides deferring the Anantnag by pulls , after declaration of its schedule by the ECI.

The meeting also discussed the schedule  programmes of the party and preparation for these programmes of the party  besides reviewing  the membership drive .  

Prominent among who attended the meeting were Sham Lal Sharma , Rigzin Jora, Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, Jugal Kishor Sharma, Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma, Usman Majid (MLA), Delden Namgyal, Rajnish Sharma, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney ,Shabir Ahmed Khan, Manjit Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh, Faqir Nath, Namrata Sharma, Indu Pawar and Pranav shagotra,.
