Veeri inspects T. F Center Chakkan Da Bagh, S.K Bridge, Mini Sectt at Poonch

 

Jammu, May 1: The Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri , Sunday said that various long and short term measures are underway to provide  better road connectivity in twin border districts of  Rajouri and Poonch, adding that better road connectivity holds key to the development of  the region. 

 The Minister, who is on his three day visit to Peer Panchal region said this while addressing a high level meeting at Poonch, today. .

 Deputy Chairman Legislative Council,   Jehangir Hussain Mir, Legislators Shah Mohammad Tantray,  Choudary Akram, Javid Rana,Yashpal Sharma ,Surinder Chaudary  and Shehnaz Ganai  attended the review meeting.

Mr. Veeri took a detailed review of the road project in the district. He was informed that as many as 572 different road schemes and bridges are under execution in the district at an estimated cost of Rs.1386 cr., of which Rs.302 Cr. have so far been expended on the execution of these schemes. These schemes include 24 major projects including Mini secretariat, Allopathic Dispensary etc.

The Minister fixed time line for completion of some vital bridges which include Kalai bridge, Nangali bridge.He also gave directions to streamline the functioning of the department at grass root level.

On the occasion legislators raised several matters pertaining to development of their respective areas.

Later, Mr. Veeri  visited trade Facilitation center Chakan Da Bagh where various developmental projects have been started at a cost of Rs 12.25 crore which include Parking lot for sixty heavy vehicles , compound walls and construction of 50 bedded barrack for security installation . The Minister directed for starting other related works at an earliest so that the traders could be facilitated in a better way.

Mr. Veeri also inspected ongoing work of S.K Bridge being constructed at a cost of Rs 9 cr . The Minister directed Chief Engineer R&B to expedite the work, giving deadline of June 5 for completion of the Bridge.

The Minister also inspected construction work of Mini Secretariat complex at Poonch, coming up at the cost of Rs. 18.30 cr. During the inspection the Minister was informed that Rs.13 crore has so for been expended on the project and the main structure has been completed. The Minister directed for the completion of the remaining work by October 2016.

Others  officers who were present on the occasion include District Development Commissioner Poonch Mr. Harun Malik, MD JKPCC, Chief Engineers of R&B and PMGSY. 

On his way from Rajouri to Poonch the Minister interacted with number of deputations and assured them of every possible help.
