Rajendra lauds role of border people in maintaining peace

JAMMU, APRIL 28: Lauding the role of people of border areas to work with Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies shoulder to shoulder for maintaining peace in the areas, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K Rajendra Kumar has described the contribution of border people a success in prevailing security.

Rajendra was addressing a meeting of police officers at District Police Lines Kathua during his daylong visit to the border district today. The meeting was convened to take stock of overall security, law and order situation in the border districts of Samba and Kathua. Police functioning in the twin districts was also discussed in the meeting.

 After obtaining details from the concerned Districts Superintendents of Police, Mr. Rajendra asked to work with greater synergy to ensure efficient policing with special focus on crime detection, security, maintenance of law & order, besides drug trafficking. He stressed the need for further improvements in police functioning to eradicate crimes from the society. He said that investigation of the cases need to be taken on modern lines to bring the culprits to justice. Cyber crimes and drug smuggling is posing a great challenge to the investigating agencies and it is our priority to take joint efforts and eradicate the crimes.

Discussing the security scenario in border areas, the DGP emphasized on coordination and communication with other security agencies and maintaining vigil in sensitive areas. He said that proper supervision by the field officers at lower level will make the efforts fruitful. Public cooperation is mandatory to get desired results from the efforts put in by police at different levels. Polite attitude at the lowest level is the key to get cooperation from the people in making professional policing a success, the DGP added.

Mr. Rajendra said that drug abuse is root cause of crimes besides affecting capabilities and energies of our youth. We have to take along other stakeholders and work for the eradication of growing menace from the society.   

Later, DGP, accompanied by IGP, Mr. Danesh Rana and MD Police Housing Corporation (PHC), Mr. A.K. Choudhary, commissioned new police station building at Lakhanpur and various constructions for battalion headquarters at Sidhra. The works have been executed by PHC at a cost of Rs. 5.72 crores under modernization programme.
