PHE Workers Welfare Association calls on Minister, projects demands


JAMMU, APRIL, 28: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood & Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today reiterated the commitment of the government for inclusive and equitable development of the state.

The Minister said this while interacting with several deputations and individuals who called on him at civil secretariat here today. The deputations belonged to Jammu division, including Doda, Ramban and other places.

The deputations put forth demands and problems related to water supply and irrigation facilities of their respective areas.

Responding to the demands, Mr. Sham Choudhary directed the PHE authorities to maintain regular water supply and press in water tanker services to the area facing water scarcity, particularly in Kandi and rural areas. He said instructions have already been issued to the concerned to pay special attention to the rural pockets to ensure regular water supply and adequate irrigation facilities to the farmers at the tail end.

Later, a deputation of PHE Workers Welfare Association, daily wager-wing headed by president Ravi Kumar, called on the Minister and projected various issues confronting them. The association also put forth a charter of demands before the Minister and pleaded for addressing these on priority.

The deputations sought the intervention of the Minister for resolving the long pending issues of the PHE daily wagers including, regular payment of wages, regularization of the workers and other allied issues pertaining to their welfare.

Sham Choudhary gave patient hearing to the deputation and assured that the government will consider their genuine issue sympathetically.

Among others, Irshad Hussain Beg, General Secretary of association, Satish Sharma, Vikram Sharma, Puran Chand and others were in the deputation.
