Kathua, Feb 11: In an endeavor to tighten noose on cement smugglers operating from Minor Toll Posts and Toll Post Lakhanpur five cement vehicles bearing registration No. JK03C-6648, JK21A-3990, JK08A8860, JK08E2488 and JK08C4131 were intercepted at nakas laid across all the J & K-Punjab border and a fine of Rs. 1,84,580/- was realized from erring smugglers. Toll Post Lakhanpur has constituted enforcement teams for round the clock surveillance of all the possible routes of illegal import of cement.
These recent catches have led to the manifold increase in overall Toll Collection on account of Cement at Minor Toll Posts where Toll collection on cement ending January 2019 is Rs.427.80 Lac against Rs. 102.95 Lac ending January 2018. In addition to that upto date fine realized from vehicles evading Toll on cement is Rs. 16.69 Lac.
The whole enforcement drive was led by Inspector Bilal A. Kraipak supervised by ETO Sandeep Gupta and closely monitored by Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Lakhanpur Sh. Ashish Kumar Gupta and assisted by staff of Toll Post Lakhanpur and Minor Toll Post.
