Bali Bhagat inaugurates Blood Bank at GB Pant Hospital


 

 SRINAGAR, APRIL 22: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today inaugurated a blood bank at GB Pant Children Hospital having a capacity of 400 units of blood.

The hospital, which was badly affected in 2014 floods, got this high-tech Blood Bank on the occasion of World Hemophilia Day. 

Medical Superintendent, GB Pant Hospital, Dr Shafqat Khan briefed the minister about the functioning of the Hospital. He informed that the hospital caters to 800 to 1,000 patients in its OPD every day, of these, 70 to 80 patients are admitted to the hospital. 

The Minister directed the concerned to take adequate steps to improve infrastructural facilities and exhorted upon the doctors to work with dedication and zeal to provide better medicare to the patients.

Earlier Health Minster attended a function held at Government Medical College, Srinagar to mark the World Hemophilia Day.  The function was attended by Principal/Dean, GMC Srinagar, Dr Kaiser Ahmad, HODs od various departments, senior faculty members, students and hemophilia patients.

Speaking on the occasion Minister assured to take up the matter with Union Health Ministry for securing financial assistance for comprehensive treatment and care for hemophilia patient

Prof. Ruby Reshi, HoD Hematology at GMC Srinagar informed the Minster that there are at least 800 hemophilia patients in the state who have not been identified or diagnosed.

 The minister exhorted upon the doctors to work with dedication and zeal to provide better medicare to the people.
