BUDGAM MARCH 24: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today inaugurated a three-day district level sports tournament at sports stadium Budgam.
The tournament was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Budgam in collaboration with the district administration, Department of Youth Services and Sports and Department of Education.
During his inaugural address, the Divisional Commissioner highlighted the role of sports in shaping a healthy and a peaceful society. He stressed that by organizing sports events youth get inspired to show case their talent for their fruitful development at national and international level. He impressed upon the officials of concerned departments to utilize all available resources to give fillip to sports activities in the valley.
On the occasion, District Development Commissioner Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad informed that Rs. 9 lakh were spent on upgrading sports infrastructure in the district during current financial year, besides several measures are in pipe line to further expand sports activities in the district.
SSP Budgam, ADC Budgam, ACR, CEO, District Youth Coordinator officer Budgam and Sports officers were also present on the occasion.
