Excise Dept seizes 256 nags of banned polythene weighing approximately 4 tonnes


Lakhanpur, Sep 02: In their endeavor to check the import of polythene in the State, the sleuths of Excise Department as per the directions of Sh. Talat Parvez Rohella, Excise Commissioner, J&K Government, intensified their vigil and seized 256 nags of banned polythene weighing approximately 4 tonnes in the form of packing material, pouches and bags in the ongoing drive undertaken since last ten days. The whole catch of approximately 4 tonnes has been handed over to Anti Polythene Check Post, Lakhanpur (Forest Department).

All the ranks of Toll Post Lakhanpur were involved in the operation which was personally supervised by Sh. Ashish Kumar Gupta, Deputy Excise Commissioner. It is worthwhile to mention here that team Lakhanpur has seized and prevented nearly 46824 kgs of polythene during the current financial year till date from entering into the State during this year, in its endeavor to make the State polythene free.
