JAMMU, Aug 12- Additional District Magistrate Jammu Mrs. Rifat Kohli today convened a meeting to regulate the rates of Set Top Boxes being provided by the Multi Service Operators and local cable operators to the subscribers. After threadbare deliberations the members were apprised that two types of Set Top Boxes with different features would be provided to the customers. One normal Set Top Box of Rs. 1000 and the other PVR (Programmed Video Recorder) Set Top Box with multi functional remote control of Rs. 1300 would be available.
The ADC directed the MSO to ensure adequate awareness of the rates of Set Top boxes in electronic and print media so that the consumers are not mislead. The MSO was also asked to furnish the list of LCOs to the post master latest by August 17 for their registration so as to ensure switch over from analog system to digital address system by December 31st 2015 as per the cable TV Network (Regulation) Act.
Deputy Director Information Member Secretary monitoring committee apprised that official email address i.e. cablecomplaintjammu@gmail.com has been devised for the consumers to register their complaints regarding undesirable content of any advertisement or programme. The members present in the meeting included Deputy Director Information (PR) Afshan Masood, Director SOS Jagir Dass, Director I/C Doordarshan Anjali Sharma, Principals Kaushal Smotra and Renu Goswamy, and others.
