Land being identified for 5 new medical colleges in J&K : Lal Singh

JAMMU, Aug 11:Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh today inaugurated two-day Army Medical Camp at Garkhal in Akhnoor. The medical camp is being organized by 25 Punjab Regiment in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services Jammu.

 The Minister directed the Mission Director NHM to depute a team of doctors at the camp for proper medical check of the children on August 12, 2015 at the premises of Army Medical Camp. He said that up to 18 years age group of the children would be check up under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Kaaryakram (RBSK) scheme in the Army Medical Camp at Garkhal in Akhnor. He asked the doctors and paramedics to provide best treatment to the patients in the medical camp and asked the doctors to render the public service with highest degree of responsibility and commitment towards the society.

For providing Government Medical College facilities at Kashmir and Jammu, Choudhary Lal Singh informed that Government is planning to establish five new medical colleges in Kashmir and Jammu. He informed that three Government Medical Colleges will be set up at Rajouri, Doda and Kathua besides two in Kashmir valley. He said for this purpose, Medical authorities have been instructed to indentify the suitable land under the project so that the construction work of the hospitals could be started at the earliest.
