Administration asks oil companies to establish grievance redressal cells in J&K

JAMMU, March 8: Secretary, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Sourabh Bhagat today reviewed the status of DBTL, AADHAR seeding and other allied issues confronting the consumers with oil companies and LPG distributors.

The meeting also deliberated at length on several issues including   ensuring home delivery of LPG, Establishment of LPG bottling plant at suitable places in Kashmir & Ladakh besides sharing of database of LPG consumers.

The Secretary impressed upon oil representatives for establishing a dedicated grievances redressal cell for prompt redressal and delivery of essentials to the needy. He further asked them to link their official websites with Government CA&PD portal to facilitate the beneficiaries through multiple search engines.

Reviewing the progress on AADHAR seeding, the Secretary exhorted upon to give it wide publicity and sensitize masses for AADHAR enrolment so that its seeding   with consumer LPG connection would be done at the earliest. He said it would also help in streamlining the distribution system besides curbing double subsidy on petroleum products like K. Oil and LPG.

The Secretary also constituted a team of CA&PD officials and tasked them to visit neighbouring states  for evolving a systematic roadmap for ensuring  regularity and uninterrupted  LPG delivery  in rural and hilly areas of the State.

 Joint Director CA&PD, representatives of oil Companies and LPG distributors besides senior officers of the department attended the meeting.
