4th Police martyrs memorial volley ball tourney concludes


 

      UDHAMPUR, Feb 29 - Taking lead of three sets, the volley ball team of Ramban Volley Ball Club defeated Samba Volleyball  by  25-15, 25-20 and 15 - 10 in the final of 4th  Police Martyrs Memorial State Level Volley Ball tournament held at Mini Stadium, Udhampur  . The tournament was organized by Udhampur- Reasi range Police under Civic Action Programme of Jammu & Kashmir Police.

       Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Danish Rana was the chief guest while District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was the guest of honour on the occasion.

       Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu complimented the organizers for the successful conduct of the tournament. He said that sports activities have helped the youth to channelize their energy in a positive way.  Paying tributes to the supreme sacrifices of police martyrs, he said that such tournaments are being organized to remember the supreme scarifies of the police martyrs.

      Remembering the sacrifices of police martyrs, DDC Udhampur said that district administration is going to develop a park along National Highway to pay tribute to Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan of Udhampur who recently sacrificed his life for the nation.  He assured all possible help from the district administration to develop sports infrastructure and activities in the district.

      Earlier, in his welcome address, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Surinder Gupta said that the teams exhibited their sports talent with a sense of sportsmanship. He hoped that such tournament s would go a long way in attracting the youth towards games and also prove a step forward to strengthen the police- public relations. 

      The chief guest along with other dignitaries distributed cash prizes and trophies amounting to Rs. 20000/- , Rs 15000/- and Rs. 10000/- to 1st, 2nd and 3rd winning teams respectively. Besides, man of the match was given a prize of Rs. 2000/-   and Gifts were also given to the families of police martyrs on the occasion.

      Advocate Swatantra Dev Kotwal and Ajit Singh acted as commentators while Manik Sharma and Ashok Kumar gave their expert judgment during the tournament.

      SSP Udhampur, Suleman Choudhary,  Additional SP Udhampur, Mohna Lal Kaith, Dy. SP, Bodh Raj (Nodal Officer), Sports Director SMVD, Ashok Sharma, President, Vice President  and General Secretary, Volley Ball Association, Udhampur, Raj Guru, Roshan Gupta and Bhushan Sethi, veteran players, prominent citizens and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
