Excise Department Conducts  raids In Kathua, Akhnoor

 

JAMMU, Feb 23: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, illegal smuggling of liquor from other States, the J&K Excise Department has intensified raids and checking .

Excise Team lead by ETO, Sandeep and ETO, Eradication, Suresh raided the Saktachak, Sumwan and Dobwal area of Kathua district during which More than 900 hundred kilo grams of Lahan and fifty bottles of illicit liquor made from  lahan, which is highly hazardous & injurious to health, one working still were also recovered and later destroyed by the team on spot.

Raids were also conducted in Akhnoor area as well and in the process one person namely Harman Kour w/o Balwant Singh of Sungal was arrested and from her possession two bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan were recovered, which were destroyed on spot by the raiding team. In the same area ten kg of lahan was also recovered and destroyed.

Meanwhile the Excise Department, Udhampur and Forest Protection Force, Udhampur laid a Joint Naka at Udhampur on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and in the process an amount of Rs. 5350 was recovered as fine from Toll evaders.
