Bali review health scenario in Kargil


JAMMU, February 14: Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali and Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat reviewed the health scenario in Kargil District at a high-level meeting held here today.

Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Kargil, K.A. Kacho, Executive Councilor, Mohammad Hussain, Councilor LAHDC, Mohsin Ali, Principal Secretary, H&ME, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Finance H&ME, Mohammad Rafiq, CMO, Kargil and other senior officers of the H&ME Department and Council Secretariat were present in the meeting.

Several prominent issues related to the functioning of health institutions as well as status of various on-going health projects and vacant posts of doctors and para-medics in Kargil were discussed in detail. The Chairman called for adequate funding for the speedy completion of these projects and steps to further improving the health facilities and filling up of all vacant posts on priority in the district.

The Chairman specifically mentioned about the progress of 200-bedded new District Hospital and GNM School at Khurbathang and called for releasing funds on priority being high-priority district for their speedy completion. He also flagged priority for release of funds for smooth functioning of Central heating of health institutions under NHM, for Drugs/Medicines, diagnostic equipment. The other prioritized requirements for the district which were put forth by the Chairman and discussed included, Critical Care Ambulances, routine Ambulances for various health institutions including District Hospital Kargil as most of the existing Ambulances have lived up their life and off the road with the result the patients are facing lot of inconveniences.

While responding to the demands, the Health Minister said that health is the priority sector for the Government and focused attention is being accorded to upgrade the infrastructural facilities in every nook and corner of the State, with special thrust on hilly and far-off areas. He assured to examine all demands on priority and addressing these in shortest possible time. Meanwhile, he assured to provide two ambulances and services of two ISM doctors in the district to meet the exigency.

As regards filling up of vacant posts of doctors and para-medics in the district, the Minister said that both the recruiting agencies viz; JKPSC and JKSSB have been approached to expedite the selection process on fast-track basis. He also assured to complete the on-going projects including, District Hospital and AMT schools in time and there will be no dearth of funds, said the Minister.
