LMD books 18 traders, imposes Rs 20700 penalty

KATHUA, Jan 24: A team of Legal Metrology Department Kathua comprising Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua, Ajay Kumar  Verma besides Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua and Dayalachack inspected various business establishments especially gas agencies , Karayana shops, gold smiths, fruit and vegetable sellers, Ration Dealers, Atta Chaki, Sweet Shops, Provisional Stores, Bakery Shops, Mustard Oil Dealers, Vishal Mart Dhalli, Dayalachack, Parkhwal, Deval, Sallan, Chadwal, Partap Nagar, Kalibari, College Road Kathua, Kathua town   and adjoining areas   during the current month.

 

During the inspection, more than 90 traders of various establishments were visited and a total of 18 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities Rules. Besides, a penalty of Rs 20700 was imposed on the erring traders.

 

The  Department  has directed all the traders to use only those Weights and Measures and weighing and Measuring Instruments for Business transactions which have been verified and  authenticated by the Legal Metrology  Department and ensure that   Maximum Retail Price( MRP), Date of Packing ( PKD), Net Contents and complete address of the Manufacturer/ Packer  and Consumer care  Number have been declared  on the  Commodities to be sold in package form as per PCR.
