Dy. CM Dr Nirmal Singh, Chering Dorjey, Minister participated in Losar celebration organized by ALSA


Jammu, Dec 29: Dy. CM Dr Nirmal Singh participated in Losar celebration organized by All Ladakh Students Association at Jammu. Chering Dorjay, Minister for Ladakh affairs and Co-operatives, former Chief Secretary, C Phuntsog, civil society members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Ladakh Losar is regarded as the most important socio - religious event. The festivities form an amalgamation of ancient rituals, folk dance, music and other performing arts.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singh stressed upon the students to take a resolve on this Losar to follow the path of righteousness as shown by the teachings of 19th Skushok Bakula. He also asked the Ladakhi community to strive for achieving quality education and serve the society by working for peace, love, compassion which is fundamental to celebration of Losar.

Losar is marked by ancient ceremonies that represent the struggle between good and evil, symbolizes throwing away of the evil and marks bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new one. Highlighting the rich heritage and diversity of Ladakh, the home to people of different religions,he said that we represent a particular culture, language and nature so we should strengthen the diversity which helps in flourishing the region. 
Celebrating the culture away from home was a valued step taken by ALSAJ. He also appreciated the participants of the cultural programmed presented on the occasion featuring folk dance and music of Ladakh.
