SDM demolishes illegal structures in Jammu South

JAMMU, Jan 12:Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Jammu South, Shahid Mohammad Dar alongwith Tehsildar Jammu South and SDPO South carried visited Babliana and Belicharana area of Tehsil Jammu South and demolished three illegal structures which were constructed on state land and also sealed one structure which was a hotel on-that-spot.

           

Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) besides other officers of Jammu Development Authority were also present during the demolition.SDM who had received various complaints from officials of JDA, Revenue, Police and common public about various encroachments going on in tehsil Jammu South particularly in Belicharana, Satwari and Babliana.

           

Acting on the complaints, the team proceeded for Babliana where some scrupulous elements had raised a wall illegally on the agriculture land and were also in a process of converting the agriculture land into a colony illegally. The wall was also raised in order to harass the farmers into selling their agriculture land at cheaper rates.

 

The wall was demolished and all parties were directed to maintain status-quo with regard to any construction on the land and also Tehsildar was told to not issue any fard for sale-purchase of this land.Afterwards, the SDM and the team proceeded for Belicharana area via military farm where two under construction shops were found raised on state land. On asking for the papers regarding permission of land and the building, the claimants were unable to show any document and hence that structure was grounded on the spot.

 

There was some pressure from locals to prevent demolition of shops but police authorities pacified the mob and the team proceeded to dismantle the ramps which were constructed on the right of way.SDM Jammu South said that such steps will deter the land mafia and encroachers from illegal activities and the drive shall continue.
