Dorjey inaugurates public park on Leh-Manali highway

          LEH, NOV 4: Minister for Cooperatives & Ladakh Affairs Tsering Dorjey inaugurated a public park here on Leh-Manali highway near Deskit-Tsal (Housing Colony, Leh). 

 The park covering six and a half kanal of land is developed by Construction Division PWD, Leh at an estimated cost of Rs. 67.84 lakh. The project was funded under H&UDD and AMRUT.

           Others present on the occasion were MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora, EC Agriculture Tsering Wangdus, EC Education Dorjey Mutup, Councilor Lower Leh Wangdan Shunu, S E PWD Tashi Chombel, District officers, Engineers, concern contractor and residents of Deskit-tsal.

          Addressing the gathering Minister Dorjey said that having such kind of a park completed in a short time in Deskit-Tsal is really commendable.  He said that there is no shortage of money and gave assurance to get the extension of the park till the end of Deskit-Tsal done in next season. 

  Dorjey recounted the facilities like road, drainage, sewerage, drinking water on priority to residents of Deskit-Tsal and urged them to cooperate in maintaining and proper utilisation of these facilities.

          The Minister appreciated the effort of Council and Government officers in successful execution of such projects in Leh and claimed that today Leh is more advanced than many parts of the Country in terms of development. 

          He also mentioned about the multi-tier parking under AMRUT to be constructed from next year with a capacity of more than 200 cars. He regretted the inconveniences caused to public during the execution period of these projects.

          MLA Leh R Jora appreciated the hard work of the Council, officers and engineers in completing the park on time and said it’s a pride for all Ladakhis to have such kind of park. He asserted that politics is to serve public and the main agenda of every political party is public welfare. He said that whichever Government is in power their aim is to keep Ladakh ahead of any politics and work in unity to address the problems of people of Ladakh and strive to make their life easy and convenient.

          Councilor, Lower Leh expressed gratitude to Council for developing park in Deskit-tsal and urged them to complete the remaining part with the sanction of required fund as early as possible. The Nambarder, Deskit-tsal too expressed gratitude for the park and put forth the problem of garbage disposal in the colony.
