J&K Locals may sit more often now onwards on DC chair

JAMMU,Dec 01: Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) on cadre review of IAS and KAS services figured out few proposals series and  give equal  share to the officers of Kashmir Administrative Services.

As per sources  CSC headed by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh  has proposed 50:50 ratio for posting of the Deputy Commissioners in the State on IAS cadre and KAS cadre. If accepted by the Cabinet, 11 KAS officers would be entitled for posting as the Deputy Commissioners in 22 districts of the State which would not only strengthen local Officers but Government will have more control over such officers.

Also an eligibility has been set in the proposal that an IAS officers to be posted as the Deputy Commissioners should have minimum of 10 years experience. Presently, the IAS officerswere becoming  DCs within a time frame of four years.


As per sources proposal also states that the posts of Secretaries should be increased to accommodate more KAS officers and the KAS officers should be given posts of Head of Departments (HoDs) as per their cadre strength.

The CSC is  headed by Dy CM Dr Nirmal Singh  and other members are Health and Medical Education Minister Lal Singh, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu, Education Minister Naeem Akhtar and Animal and Sheep Husbandry Minister Sajjad Lone.
