Government  working to make tests in government run Health institutions free : Lal Singh

KATHUA, Dec 1: In connection with World AIDS Day, observed on 1st December, a awareness programme about issues surrounding HIV and AIDS was organized in Government Degree College Kathua with Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Chaudhary Lal Singh as chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch Lal Singh stressed the need to accord top priority to redress grievances of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIVs). The Minister also underscored the commitment of the Government in the implementation of different schemes for the welfare of people living with HIV/AIDS. He lauded the efforts of students who participated in debates and cultural programmes to raise awareness about the issue. 

The Minister also informed that the government is working to make medical tests in government run health institutions free of cost. He also called upon youth to perform regular checkups and follow a disciplined daily routine to keep fit. He urged people to participate in blood donation camps while asking Principal GDC Kathua to organize a mega blood donation camp.

The Minister also directed the law enforcing agencies to ensure mandatory wearing of helmet by two wheeler riders to save precious lives.

Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Convener Red Ribbon Club, GDC Kathua and Dr. Netar Singh, Principal, Government Degree College Kathua also spoke on the occasion.
