Odisha Anti Corruption Bureau traps & arrests "Sub Registrar" for accepting bribe of Rs 7,000/=

Bhubaneshwar, Nov 6: Vigilance officials on Friday apprehended Baliapal Sub-Registrar, Manisha Mishra, an Odisha Revenue Service Officer, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a land buyer for registering a sale deed for land recorded as ‘Bajyapti Stithiban’.

She had demanded Rs 10,000 from the complainant to register the sale deed for 14 decimal of land.

Despite repeated requests by the buyer, who cited the department’s guidelines, Mishra allegedly refused to proceed with the registration and demanded Rs 10,000.

When the complainant said he could not pay the amount, she reportedly reduced the demand to Rs 7,000. Unable to meet the demand, the complainant approached Odisha Vigilance.

Acting on the complaint, a vigilance team laid a trap on Friday and caught Mishra allegedly accepting the bribe. The money was recovered from her possession and seized.

Investigation is underway.
