Bhopal, Nov 5: An investigation into alleged financial irregularities at Bank of Maharashtra’s Morkha branch in Betul has uncovered suspected manipulation of records showing living customers as dead, unauthorised withdrawals from fixed deposits and a money trail exceeding Rs 1 crore.
Police are probing the suspected use of forged death certificates, though the method used in individual cases remains under scrutiny. Investigators suspect the number of victims could rise.
Police have arrested the Branch’s Assistant Manager and driver and detained a 14-year-old boy. Six cases have been registered following complaints from customers alleging unauthorised withdrawals or transfers from their accounts.
