Today, Odisha Vigilance apprehended Ajay Kumar Garanaik, Special Land Acquisition Officer, Sambalpur–Talcher Doubling Rail Line Project, for demanding a bribe of Rs.5.10 lakh from a land owner in lieu of release of Rs.84.62 lakh towards land acquisition compensation.
He took 2 lakh earlier and was caught today while taking rest 3.10 lakh.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.20 dt.01.11.2026 U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress.
