Srinagar, Nov 2: Nearly half of the staff at Government Degree College, Baramulla, were found absent during a surprise inspection by the district administration today, raising concerns over adherence to prescribed Government working hours.
The inspection team, headed by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Baramulla, visited the college on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla following reports of premature departure of employees.
During the early afternoon inspection, the team reportedly found around 50 per cent of the staff, including Heads of Departments, Assistant Professors and Lecturers, absent from the premises before the scheduled closing time.
The administration has obtained the institution's biometric attendance records to verify the attendance status of the employees concerned and establish whether they had left before the prescribed time.
The district administration has taken serious note of the reported violations, with further action likely against those found guilty after verification of attendance records.
Officials said action would be taken in accordance with applicable rules and procedures.
