KATHUA, Sept 8: A Probationary Sub-Inspector posted at Hiranagar Police Station in Kathua district has been booked under the NDPS Act after he allegedly tested positive for consumption of a narcotic substance.
He was allegedly found behaving suspiciously while present on the premises of the Police Station, following which he was taken for a medical examination at Sub-District Hospital , Hiranagar.
A drug-testing kit was used during the examination and indicated consumption of a narcotic or contraband substance.
Taking serious note of the incident, SSP Kathua directed strict action, stressing that drug addiction among police personnel would not be tolerated.
Subsequently, FIR number 97/2026 was registered under sections 8 and 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the concerned police station.
